About Advanced Softball

Overview

MSA’s Advanced Softball (AB) is a program designed to offer additional practices and playing opportunities for those players seeking to increase their skillset or obtain additional coaching and competition experience.

AB practices are open to all MSA registered players, regardless of skill, who desire to improve their level of play. The AB program runs concurrently with MSA’s Spring and Fall recreational seasons and is a separate program from the All-Star Teams that are selected at the conclusion of the season. AB is not a prerequisite for All-Stars, and any registered player may seek to participate in either program.

AB Clinics

MSA will hold AB Clinics twice per month in every age division and will be open to any registered MSA player. Registration for the clinics is not required and any player may attend any scheduled practice at their desire. Dates/Times for the clinics will be provided throughout the season in advance. Although they may be held on the same day, each age division (6U, 8U, 10U, 12U) will have their own clinic that will be conducted by appropriate coaches and staff.

AB Competition Team

In addition to AB Clinics, the AB program will also field an AB Competition Team, which will represent the park through additional game and tournament play. Tryouts for the AB Competition Team will be held in each age division, and rosters for each team will be selected by a panel of coaches as well as one or more MSA Board Members. Rosters may include up to a max of 15 players. Any related costs such as tournament fees, umpire fees, etc., will be the responsibility of the players and families, although fundraising opportunities and/or sponsorships may be available to alleviate any or all costs. Please note that the AB Competition Team is not the same as, nor a prerequisite for, the summer Allstar teams.
