Mandarin Sports Association (MSA) offers two Baseball seasons each year. Our Spring Ball registration begins in January each year, and Fall Ball registration begins in August. You can register either online or in-person at Albert's Field.
Practices are typically two days a week, for one and a half to two hours. In the Spring, practices start the first week in February. Spring games begin the first week in March and run through the end of May. In the Fall, practices start the first week in September. Fall games start the last week in September and end the week before Thanksgiving. Teams play a minimum of 14 games in the Spring and 12 games in the Fall. There are no Saturday games held in the Fall season.
Following the Spring Season, All-Star teams are formed in most age divsions.
MSA follows the Cal Ripken baseball rules for ages 12 and under and Babe Ruth baseball rules for ages 13-18. MSA provides the following divisions in which children can play:

Mini T-Ball |

6 Innings |
Mini T-ball is a program recommended for 4, 5, and 6 year olds to teach the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. The coach pitches to the batter and with two strikes they are allowed to hit off a batting tee, hence the name. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive team environment. |

Pitching Machine (Rookie) |
7-8 |
Mound: 46’ |
6 Innings |
The pitching machine league is designed for 7 and 8 year olds. A pitching machine delivers pitches at 43 miles per hour. Batters receive five hittable pitches. If the ball is not batted into play after the fifth pitch, the batter in effect strikes out. By controlling pitches with a pitching machine, there is more action at the plate and in the field. The rookie league is an excellent way to continue teaching the fundamentals of the game and building player confidence. |
Minor (kid pitch) |
9-10 |
Mound: 46’ |
6 Innings |
The minor division is designed for 9 and 10 year olds. The players are introduced to live pitching at this level. Players are allowed to steal multiple bases including home, but not lead off. Offensively the bunt is allowed in this division. Among teammates of their own age and experience level, players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game. |
Major (kid pitch) |
11-12 |
Mound: 50’ |
6 Innings |
The most experienced level of Cal Ripken Baseball is recommended for 11 and 12 year old players. This division implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this young age group. This division mimics the minor division with the addition of lead off and pitching rules. |
Juniors |
13-15 |
Mound: 60’ |
7 innings or no new inning after 1 hour 50 minutes |
This division plays by all major league rules. |
| Seniors | 16-18 | Mound: 60' Bases: 90' |
7 innings or no new inning after 1 hour 50 minutes | This division plays by all major league rules. |
All players are required to go through a player evaluation process in order to create a better distribution of talent through the draft process. (Player evaluations are not required for Mini T-Ball/T-Ball.) Team selections are made using a draft process based on the player evaluation scores. All children will be placed on a team and will play at least half of all innings played.
Advanced Baseball
MSA offers an Advanced Baseball program in both fall and spring if there is enough coach and player participation. The A/B program is an extension of and complement to the recreational baseball program. As such, the MSA A/B program schedules its activities around the recreational baseball program. MSA A/B teams will play against other A/B teams around the city.
